Prayer for Sunday School Teachers
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of Your Son as our Teacher. We thank You for these men and women who have dedicated their lives to educating the youth of this community, whether those students are just starting their education or whether they are young adults nearing graduation from high school or college. We know what a tremendous responsibility teaching is, and we know how difficult a task it has become in this age. These men and women battle every day for the hearts and minds of their students.
Help these teachers, Lord, to teach the truth that students need to make sense of the world around them. Help them to let students know that they are precious and that God has a plan for their lives.
Help them to encourage the students for whom lessons are hard.
Help them to reach students who do not feel much encouragement from home. Guide them in working with students, parents and administrators. Give these teachers confidence as they explain and demonstrate what’s right, and what’s wrong. Let them be reminded that there are those in the congregation and in the community who are praying for them because we need them and their students to succeed.
Help them Lord, in difficult times to rest in Your strength and Your peace. Please give them knowledge, wisdom and patience as they plan and present their lessons each day.
Lord, help them to be a great witness to You in their role as a teacher through their actions, the attitude they portray and the words they say to their students. We ask for Your constant guidance and protection upon them.
Help them to be a walking testimony to the Truth found in You. We dedicate these men and women to be used by You in the ministry of teaching. In Christ’s Name we pray.
Amen

Adoption Ministry
In our world today, it is estimated that there are more than 153 million orphans and waiting children. Every one of these forgotten children is precious and loved by God. They too are part of God's family and as believers we are called to be the first to reach out to orphaned and abandoned children around the world. God has always had a plan in place to protect and provide for the orphan. His plan is and always has been that we, His followers, would seek and serve those orphaned, foster, and waiting children in His name, regardless of personal cost.
The East Main Adoption Ministry Team exists to reach out to orphaned and abandoned children around the world and educate our church and community concerning adoption, foster care and orphan care. In addition, we provide financial support and resources to East Main families who are called to adopt or foster. “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40
Considering Adoption? Download the Adoption Ministry Grant Guidelines and the Adoption Ministry Grant Application. For further information, contact Lori Bishop at (email) or 724-458-6631.

Belong...
At East Main we affirm the primacy of God's call. It is as we come to trust more fully God's love for us that we develop a hunger to grow in our understanding of His ways. It is as we believe that in Christ, we become sons and daughter's of the living God that we begin to see that we also belong to all who likewise call upon his name as savior and Lord. In this sense, community is not something that we forge, but a gift that God gives. The fellowship of believers is a truth that we live into. Sunday School, Bible Studies, Community Groups, Fellowship Meals, Various Care Ministries, our Mission's Program, even corporate worship are all ways that we seek to awaken the truth that we belong to the Lord and to each other..
Grow...
"… But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 3:18)
Hearing the good news of God's grace in Jesus invites our response. The scriptures make it abundantly clear that to know God is to love Him and to love who and what He loves. We seek to grow as Christians primarily through this lens, and so we talk about becoming disciples of Jesus. We seek to be people whose lives are formed, informed, and transformed by the truth and power of God's Spirit at work in us.
We also affirm that Christian growth is not something we can engineer, but something we yield to by God's grace. Therefore, we engage in worship, Bible study, prayer, fellowship, and service in humility and with expectancy. Each of these endeavors become an occassion to address those often unexamined attitudes, habits, and aims that keep us from living into the new reality of God's kingdom, participating in His life, and spending our time, energy, and resources in ways that hasten the renewal of all things.

Here and Now...There and Then by Beth Moore is an 11-session video lecture series on the book of Revelation. Beth presents many points of view, allowing women to decide for themselves when the interpretation varies among scholars. She teaches that God is as specific about what He does reveal as He is about what He does not reveal. The Listening Guide is a book for note taking during the teaching sessions. It also has one light homework assignment for each week. Two groups will meet beginning in September. The Monday evening group will meet every other Monday at
More details will be available soon. Hope you will join us in September.
Presbyterian Women meet in the Fellowship Hall on the third Monday of each month, September through May at 1 o'clock. All women are welcome to come. Members choose to participate in the mission of the church at home and worldwide, through prayer, programs and service. Members grow in faith and understanding of individual and cultural differences. Missions and missionaries are supported by giving and services.
Feed My Sheep - Catering for Missions
In the fall of 1997, God laid a concern on many of our hearts for missions. After receiving letters from a member of our Sunday School on a summer mission trip, who described children searching through the city dump for food, several members of our class met and prayed about the possibility of forming a group to raise money for those in need of food and shelter. Plans evolved into a catering service with the following mission statement:
The mission of Feed My Sheep – Catering for Missions is to serve our Lord, Jesus Christ by providing catering services to church and community groups using our Fellowship Hall and to use this opportunity to...
- generate funds to provide food, water, and shelter to those in need of the basic necessities of life
- offer members of the congregation the opportunity to give of themselves to serve God and others.
This has evolved to include many members of our congregation. God has certainly blessed this mission with many opportunities to serve others. If God is leading you to help with this ministry or to book Feed My Sheep for an event please contact Ann Stinson through the Church office.
Ministry of Care
The “Ministry of Care” outreach started March 16, 2006 and was setup for sharing our time and talents to reach out in love to those in our church family in preparing a meal for those who are going through their struggle or happy time. This outreach focuses on discharges from hospital, new moms & babies & anyone with extra special needs that need to be shown that they are loved. This is not to be an ongoing dependency. I feel the Lord has touched our hearts and it is important to give HIM the glory with this outreach that we are undertaking. If you would like to be involved OR know a church family need, please call the Coordinator Peggy Fisher at 724-458-8676 or e-mail at (email).
Prayer Blanket Ministry
Purpose - The Lord tells us in 2 Corinthians 1:3
‘Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.’
The objective of our "Prayer Blanket Ministry" is to show God's love to people who are going through a difficult time. As these blankets are being made we lift up a special prayer that the recipient of this gift will enjoy the warmth and comfort of this blanket and we ask for God's encouragement, strength and peace in their lives. Please join us to remember these recipients in YOUR prayers. If you know of anyone who could receive comfort from our special gift, please contact Peggy Fisher at 724-458-8676. In this ministry at East Main, we give God the Glory and Praise and know that HE is in control of ALL things!
Participants include anyone with the talent of knitting, crocheting, quilting, tying or sewing blankets, lap robes, or Afghans are asked to come aboard and share their gift. As we share our talent to make these gifts, we are asked to pray for the recipient of our project. These cover ups will be finalized with an attached label that will symbolize it is from
