"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations..."

East Main has longstanding commitment to Mission. Each year roughly one third of our giving is devoted to the further development of our Mission partnerships, and nearly a quarter of our congregation gives of themselves in a personal way through one of our Mission STEPS (Short-Term Experiences in Partnership and Service) opportunities.

What We Do...

WYCLIFFE BIBLE TRANSLATORS

Wycliffe International is an association of member organizations bound together by the singular vision to ensure that the Word of God is accessible to all people in the language of their heart. While about 200 million people still do not have the Bible in their own language, Wycliffe also understands that access means literacy, community development, and church partnerships.

Kirk and Christine Franklin (email) are based in Australia. On 1 January 2008, Kirk became the Executive Director/CEO of Wycliffe International. Kirk works with a multi-cultural leadership team of 13 people who work from Melbourne, Australia.

Barry and Suzzanne Nichol (email) serve in Kenya. Barry's work as an administrator includes liaison for Nairobi operations, budget oversight, office management, special projects and managing a fleet of vehicle.

ANTIOCH MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL

Fred and Kathy Mueller (email) work among the unreached Evenki people in Kumora, Siberia. With their six children, they moved to southern Siberia from Irkutsk in 2003. There are around 60,000-100,000 Evenki people scattered throughout Siberia, Mongolia, and China. Since the fall of communism, alcohol and violence have spread rampantly.

The Muellers faithfully pray for and reach out to their neighbors through sports camps, English classes, and evangelism. The Muellers are veteran missionaries, and have served with AMI since 1993. They live like those around them, in primitive conditions, pumping their own water from a well, and going without plumbing or modern conveniences in below-freezing weather

The KCP is a holistic education project started through a partnership between Believers Centre Mathare Church, Adam Gould (blog), and Life in Abundance, a Kenyan Non-Government Organization. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (USA) WORLD MISSION - ETHIOPIA

John and Gwen Haspels both grew up in Africa as missionaries' kids. For the past eight years, they have been working with the Suri people in Ethiopia in partnership with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church. The Haspels have focused their attention on a remote and unreached branch of the Suri called the Baale. This has required them to build a "road" over a mountain to reach the Baale. Future community development plans include a school, health clinic, and wells, though the ultimate aim is evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. John and Gwen's only access to the outside world is via two-way radio. There is no cell phone or e-mail contact with their family and supporters. They must travel about five hours to reach the nearest telephone, and it is a two-day trip to the nearest city for supplies.

WORLD VISION

ARAB WORLD MINISTRIES MEDIA

Our partners work with Arab Muslims who are living on the edge of traditional culture and values long established. Young people under the age of 25, who make up about 60% of the worldwide Arab population, have a very different mindset from their parents. In particular, globalization has allowed them to connect to the outside world and introduced them to other ways of thinking to a degree previous generations could not have imagined. This virtual community, arising from new technologies such as the Internet and mobile phones, in addition to print and broadcast media, provides a unique opportunity to reach out to young Muslims with the love of Christ.

Since its establishment in September of 1993, this mission organization has provided training and support for missionaries, witnessed the growth of 42 churches, and provided forums for ongoing discipleship and ministry. East Main has been privileged to host Misha Dubovik, present CEO of Hope to People, and his wife, Inna, as well as participate in the ministry by sending short-term teams to Rivne, Ukraine. We are currently exploring ways that we might build upon this experience.

Their primary objective is to encourage and enable youth and adults to place their trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. For those who have already trusted Christ, they help equip them to live in a way that reveals the growing influence that Christ has in their hearts.

CHRISTIAN ASSISTANCE NETWORK

Christian Assistance Newtork was founded in 1999 when a group of Grove City area community members was led by God to reach out to a family in great need. The head of the household had become gravely ill and was unable to work; the home needed many repairs. CAN not only made the necessary repairs, but also helped the family find proper medical care and provided financial guidance. CAN’s work with the family led them to a relationship with Jesus Christ. CAN has aided the disabled, provided financial assistance for medical expenses, found jobs for those in need, and encouraged community members to volunteer.
